Review of Colombiana (2011) by Tanveer A — 03 Mar 2012
Olivier Megaton's Colombiana delivers the thrills at the hand of the gorgeous.Clocking in at 105 minutes, there isn't much in the way of surprises or twists with the story. For the most part, things are predictable with brief details to fill in what could be plot holes.
Nevertheless, having a sexy assassin getting the job done is simply enjoyable. The film does have its share of assassinations, although the intense action is bottled up until the finale, accompanied by some brisk editing.
The earlier segments are comprised of more elaborate and professional killings, which end up as a nice touch between the story's slower segments. There are no complaints with Zoe Saldana strutting around doing all the dirty work.
She fits the bill nicely. The rest of the supporting cast end up with the usual cliched supporting characters, which are no competition for Zoe.Colombiana does lack its own unique flare, but at the end of the day it is an action thriller that passes the test.
