Review of Collide (2016) by Bohao L — 25 Feb 2017
This movie is awesome! The love story between Jones and Hoult feels both engaging and real. The main backdrop of the movie's motivations are simple: What would you do to save the one you love? It has been done before many times, but this movie keeps the plot easy to follow and really kicks the action up a notch, similar to how Crank did.
The villains in the movie are a legitimate force throughout the movie, and even when Hoult is able to get the better of them it never diminishes the threat that Hopkin's character provides. Its also nice in this age of movie making to keep the protagonist grounded more in reality.
While the rich villain has access to fast cars and goons with guns who can track cell phones and car GPS, the protagonist never once gets the upper hand through technology, instead relying on his own wits and abilities to keep moving.
