Review of Collateral Beauty (2016) by Joann B — 18 Dec 2016
I did go see the movie. I enjoyed the movie a lot and when it comes on video I will be buying it. My husband didn't enjoy the movie as much but he did enjoy it. I get the movie. When you are dealing with a loss, especially the loss of a child, the mind and heart just can't understand.
Will Smith character is dealing with the loss of his child by writing to Love, (something we all want), Time (something we all want more of) and Death (something we all fear) I have been going to a Life/ Business Coach for the pass year at YarCorte Acres.
Part of the process is writing in journals. Basically when you journal, you are addressing Love, Time and Death. Writing puts your thoughts on paper help the mind and heart cope with "Collateral Beauty" that is all around you and gives you focus to move forward.
When the mind and heart are right to heal, tears are release. This is Howard's way to move forward and his friend's way of assisting. I know some critics did not give the movie respectable reviews.
They have probably have not gone through something, like this and don't get how moving this movie is. Death (Helen Mirren) said, in the movie, something like this is my greatest performance that I will never get any applause for.
I applaud them all. If this movie helps one person deal with loss, it is worth every penny to make it.
