Review of Collateral Beauty (2016) by Andrew K — 19 Mar 2017
You know ... I've come to realize that these reviews say more about the critics writing them than they do about the film. Yes, I'm looking at you Us Weekly. I love this movie. Yes, there were some missteps.
Some things that could have been executed a little better. But there is beauty here and an honest look at pain. At what really matters and how impossible it feels to carry on when our lives have been devastated.
I applaud originality, honesty, and especially the exploration of human emotion. Maybe that just makes me "sappy". What do I know? I don't get paid to write these. I'm just a human being .
.. who understands that art is about the exploration of ourselves and that even within imperfect execution there can be profound value.
