Review of Collateral (2004) by Sean W — 22 Oct 2010
The movie is a night in L.A., as a hit man takes out witness after witness, dragging a cab driver along with him. Collateral is one intriguing concept lead by a couple of great actors. The first thing you notice is the way itâ(TM)s shot; digitally.
It adds to the experience, making it feel like youâ(TM)re in the cab, watching as events unfold. Directing it is Michael Mann, of Heat fame. The manâ(TM)s got an eye for capturing real character moments.
And so we follow our characters, share some of their laughs and sit on the edge of our seats during the action pieces. Despite a final act thatâ(TM)s a little âcinematicâ? compared to everything that preceded it .
. . itâ(TM)s an interesting character study that makes for a solid film.
