Review of Colette (2018) by Larry S — 13 Dec 2018
Strong acting led by Knightley and West, who play off each other well and are believable in their roles. However, I thought the film could have used an infusion of dramatic tension, which I thought marred the effect of the movie overall.
The staging is superb so you feel like you're right there in Paris at the turn of the 20th century. Finally, I would have liked to have seen more of Colette's later successful life, only offered up in the film in glimpses and in postscripts.
