Review of Cold Souls (2009) by Alexander F — 25 Feb 2010
Paul Giamatti is the perfect foil for director Sophie Barthes's tragi-comic meditation on the human soul. He infuses the fluttered neurosis of the Method actor with such precise detail whereas most actors would have painted it with a much broader stroke.
And while I wish the movie would have dealt more with the purpose of the human soul, it's still a lightly twisted little movie peppered with two great supporting performances by Lauren Ambrose and David Strathairn.
