Just when you decide that 2009 was a year of just very few witty films, arrives the impressively inventive offer of the "Cold Souls" to improve the overall outlook.
The story is imaginative and original enough to require a really capable handling and thankfully that adequate support is provided here by the director. The story is unfolded gradually and with such an appropriate pacing, the film quickly becomes an interesting and engaging treat. There's an admirable balance and sequence between its many funny and sarcastic moments and the more serious and thought-provoking parts.
All the cast delivers satisfactorily with Giamatti managing the required solid performance in order to "ground" the imaginative story.
