Review of Cold Souls (2009) by David O — 12 May 2010
The plot is enjoyable, based on a smart gimmick, although quite banal in its development.
The cinematography, a bit incoherent and at times distracting, relies heavily on pre-cooked stereotypes taken from advertising and music videos, when trying to depict the inner drama of the character but trying to be funky and modern at the same time.
The aspirations of the movie tainted the performance of the actors that, like the Russian blonde in the movie, rely on their knowledge of having a beautiful soul that can do the job rather than on going through the whole process of actually using it.
Over all this is an innocuous movie for people that want to feel smart and be emotioned without too much trouble, pain or risk.
It could be worse.
