This is what Mad Max Fury Road tried and failed to be. It's 99% mindless action. It has only the barest thread of a story. There are no characters in any meaningful sense of the word and the dialog is nothing more than a few sentences sprinkled around to give the audience a breather from the cavalcade of blood and gore.
It's a first-person shooter from start to finish and it goes so far over the top that it becomes hilarious. Which is why it succeeds and Fury Road fails. This film is entertaining. Fury Road is a bore.
