Review of Cold Mountain (2003) by Sabra E — 20 Oct 2011
This film was more star-studded than the sky on a clear night. The cast: far above exceptional, with the main and secondary players in high form. The soundtrack by Alison Krause, also exceptional. The story: compelling, gritty, hopeful, fantastical with just enough romance, just enough violence and murder and comfort.
Zellweger nailed it, Hoffman nailed his usual pervo with charm, Law was sizzling as the hero. Minghella made a beautiful baby about the Civil War and he called it Cold Mountain.
