Review of Cold Mountain (2003) by Brittany S — 27 Feb 2012
3: It's strange, but this doesn't even seem like a real film. It seems like Miramax oscar bait, which is precisely what it is. Just like Shakespeare in Love, it is the kind of well thought of picture that was soon forgotten.
Minghella and the Weinstein brothers tried to strike movie magic gold again with an American follow-up to The English Patient, but this merely comes off as a solid picture, rather than a timeless one.
Performances, locations, story, etc all work, but only on a very basic level when compared to a film like The English Patient.
