Review of Cold Mountain (2003) by David S — 01 Feb 2013
After a break of five years since I first watched Cold Mountain, I am reinvigorated having gone through acting school, and a lot more movies in that time. This is a very well done piece. It has the quality of Jude Law (anyone that says he's poor or unbelievable or dislikes his performance needs to get a grip), and Renee Zellweger in her Oscar winning performance.
It's a unique script, entertaining despite the longevity of the film itself. There are memorable moments, and forgettable instances. But you can't deny the story hits home, driving the point of the brutality of the civil war, the desperation of the people involved both fighting and at home, and the lack of justice that reigned for a period of years.
