Review of Cold Mountain (2003) by Jwee Chiek E — 07 Feb 2014
It's not the burning love between Jude Law and Nicole Kidman that kept them alive long enough for the final reunion but by the kind samaritans they were destined to meet who kept them both alive with shelter, food and warmth.
Nicole had the feisty Renee Zellweger and neighbor while Jude had the the goat woman and Natalie Portman. This film had a star star studded cast including the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. Outstanding performance from all but I must single out Renee for her brilliant performance in rescuing Nicole from wasting away and helping her to become independent and self sufficient She definitely deserve her oscar award.
It's nice to hear Renee speak her native tongue instead of the famous british accent we are familiar. Ironically, british actor Jude spoke with a southern American twang in the film. The script was written beautifully although I do prefer Jude to have ended up with widow Natalie Portman, protecting her and her baby.
That would have been the perfect ending for me.
