Review of Cold Mountain (2003) by Chris G — 02 Sep 2014
A great cast, score, director and cinematographer make this sometimes overly sappy movie work better than it would in other hands. There are times when it seems like it's trying too hard to win Oscars but there's something about it I just love anyway.
The overall tone reminds me of Minghella's the English Patient and of Atonement. Sad but not depressing. Like the blues.
