Review of Cold in July (2014) by Hazel H — 14 Jul 2014
Cold In July is an engaging movie until it goes completely off the rails of believability but for the first and second acts it is an engaging thriller. It stars Michael C Hall as Richard Dane a mild mannered family man who one night a man breaks into his home and Richard shoots and kills the intruder and then it's revealed that the intruder's father is getting out of prison and he's played by Sam Shepard and he wants revenge for his son's death and then a third act twist completely reverses everything to the point where I got kind of annoyed because they keep on switching everything up till it becomes so detached from the beginning of the film that I just didn't really get that much involved in what was going on because it was like they were just going for the twist.
The main reason to see this film is mainly for the performances and the first and second act alone.
