Review of Cold Creek Manor (2003) by Karli C — 03 Mar 2008
A film of a similar premise was released in 2003 entitled 'House of Sand and Fog'. What made it a great film was it's ability to stray from genre film limitations and provide thrills without predictability.
Cold Creek Manor proves itself to be the exact opposite as it strictly follows 'thriller' guidelines. Characters make foolish decisions and comit careless acts to further the plot. We cringe at their ignorance yet we can't look away.
While the performances of Quaid and Dorf are strong Sharon Stone's character is absolutely despicable as is the obvious outcome of the film.
