Review of Coherence (2014) by Manny C — 31 Aug 2014
From The World's End to This Is The End, sci-fi really loves to screw around with friend just trying to get together for a good time. Such is Coherence, the impressive and excellent feature debut from James Ward Byrkit.
The film is simple enough: eight friends gather for dinner, but then make a chilling discovery when a passing comet seems to have created perfect dopplegangers of them all up the road, doing exactly what they're doing.
Coherence is short on special effects and creatures but perfectly claustrophobic and a brilliant reminder of what a filmmaker can do with so little.
