Review of Coherence (2014) by Steve W — 24 Sep 2015
Filmed over five days and on the budget of 50,000 dollars, Coherence is minimalist filmmaking at its best. Four couples gather for a dinner party find themselves with destroyed cell phones, as a giant comet flies over Earth.
Then weird stuff happens, and it only gets more unnerving and mysterious as it goes on. The acting is mostly improvised but well done, and the only fault I can find is that the shakycam camera work is the only amateur part of the movie.
It combines simple storytelling for a mind bender of a thriller.
