Review of Coffy (1973) by Tom F — 08 Jul 2008
A classic of the blaxploitation era. the total basis for 'Jackie Brown'. It is also one of Quentin Tarantino's top ten films of all time....well I wouldn't give it that lofty praise but its certainly good fun.
Pam Grier is great as the feisty and very buxom Coffy. Lots of cheap ketchup blood and wah-wah guitar this has influenced alot of stuff and its funny to think that a Bond film like 'live and let die' should be so influenced by this short lived film genre.
As Henry Rollins might say, 'oh so cheesy, but oh so tasty'. Yeah this is worth a watch, but then I like funk/jazz funk music.....
