Review of Coffy (1973) by Stephen C — 08 Aug 2010
Say what you like about Blacksploitation but when its done well as it is here then you have lots of fun watching lashings of violence amid some very cheesy dialogue.
Its no wonder Tarantino picked Pam Grier to star in Jackie Brown shes the star of the show here showing off her ampple charms but at the same time dealing death to low down drug pushers.
Look out too for the always ace Sid Haig as one of the bad guys and a score by Roy Ayers which has all the trappings of the genre but still remains interesting.
Jack Hill was a dab hand at this kind of stuff and this really is a genre classic.
