Review of Coffee and Cigarettes (2004) by Matt U — 04 Feb 2008
I love how Jarmusch takes a banal ritual (taxis in a previous fim, coffee in this one), and turns it into something existential. The serious sketches are best, particularly the Cate Blanchett one, and the Alfred Molina/Steve Coogan scene.
The purely comic scenes are less successful, but at the end I had a warm satisfied feeling (like I had just had a C&C, come to think of it), so that's a success then.
