Review of Coffee and Cigarettes (2004) by Enrique R — 05 Aug 2008
Someone said about Paris Je T'amie, that "in a project like this, there will be hits and misses and in this one the hits outnumber the misses".
Well, it's the opposite in this one. The first segment, despite the fact that I am a fan of both Steven Wright and Roberto Benigni seemed sluggish and uncomfortable, and that kinda set the tone for the rest of the film, add in a few continuity errors (when your set is confined to a table with coffee and cigarettes on them, you need to keep things in the same places or else it just looks bad) and you've got an OK movie at best.
Now of course there are bright spots, like Bill Murray's appearance and Steve Buscemi, but at a certain point, I just don't give a crap about coffee and cigarettes anymore.
