Review of Coffee and Cigarettes (2004) by Zachary S — 14 Oct 2008
This was a pretty good film. The entire time watching it I was craving coffee and cigarettes...so..needless to say, at the films conclusion, I drove to Hess, sat out front, and fufilled the urge - and the characters are right, it IS a very good combination (if you are 18 and like coffee!).
The film centers around many different stories set in diner-esque locations with convos over coffee and cigarettes. The stories individually were amazing, with most of them having a sense of awkwardness of not knowing the other person.
The Wu-Tang Clan's GZA and RZA's sketch is absolutely magnificent with them breaking the cycle, drinking herbal tea, talking about how bad caffeine and nicotine are to a delirious Bill Murray.
This film was a great piece of pieces about, well, coffee and cigarettes.
Good film. Good coffee.
