Review of Code 46 (2003) by John — 31 Jan 2009
An interesting movie, but not necessarily what I would call a good movie nor a satisfying one. A little shorter, and it would've been a really good short film.
I both liked and didn't like that various "future elements" were treated as commonplace and not thoroughly explained. It made it seem more realistic, but it also made it difficult to watch because the dialogue is mumbled throughout the film. I wouldn't have minded trying to work out cool new future concepts if I didn't have to struggle to understand what they were saying. And they should've taken more care to explain one or two of the more important things that were critical to the plot.
A huge weak spot in the writing is that we learn too much about Tim Robbins's character for him to be just some guy ambling through the plot, but not enough that we understand his motivations or, frankly, even care about what happens to him after the end of the movie.
