Review of Cocoon (1995) by Chad J — 13 Jun 2008
I wish I hadn't have put watching this movie off for so many years, but I also feel like it is good that I did because I may not have appreciated the message and react as emotionally as I did had I have seen this years ago.
This really is a sweet story and usual since you never see a pack of over 60 years olds headlining a movie. It reminded me in a way of the sincerity of Spielberg's alien movies when he made them to tell a good story as opposed to the ones he made just so he could say he made another alien film.
I was sorta bothered by the ending, the actions taken by the characters felt overly selfish...but I feel it is good that it ended that way. It leaves more room for discussion. I really suggest checking it out; it's deeper than it looks and also a little heartbreaking.
The fact that they made a sequel is questionable though...
