As intriguing Gabrielle Chanel was as a pioneer of fashion, the movie never succeeds in relating to her main motivation of getting involved in fashion. For a long time, one wonders what makes Coco stick so long in a castle trying to please Mr.
Balsan, while it is obvious she loathes the most part of his lifestyle. As it turns out fashion was to this lady more rebellion than exploiting beauty or passion, which seems a bridge too far. But for sure, Benoit and Audrey perform very well in this biopic.
