Review of Coco Before Chanel (2009) by Sylvia Q — 12 Nov 2010
Boring! No way comparable to La Vie En Rose. The film is all about a woman who leeches on a wealthy sugar daddy for her personal success, while openly keeping a younger lover. It does not seem to highlight her talent or passion very much.
You do not see the pain that Marion Cotillard portrays so well as Edith Piaf when she loses her beloved. The story would be a lot more interesting if her association with the Nazis was featured as well.
The additional star is granted simply for the showcase of pretty French dresses. That's all.
