Review of Coco (2017) by Brenda A — 12 May 2018
The movie "coco" was released November 22, 2017 by Lee Unkrich. This movie was based on a boy named Miguel who wants to play music but his family bans music forever. He enters the land of dead to find his great great grandpa.
There was a talent show that Miguel wanted to be in. The only problem was that his whole family was against music. He somehow enters the land of the dead and to be able to go back to the land of the living he needs a blessing from a family member.
In the movie we see that in the land of the dead they use nothing but opaque color. Also in the lane if the dead Miguel's face was painted to not be recognized by others that he was a living person.
Another thing is that he is slowly dying and has till sunrise to leave the land of the dead. This makes him want to find his great great grandpa faster. This movie should of gave clues of who his great great grandpa was.
The whole time Miguel is looking for the wrong person all the time until the end. Why does he just assume it's DelaCruz instead of Hector. DelaCruz was who he thought was his great great grandpa, Hector was his actual great great grandpa.
Also towards the end of the movie Mamá Coco remembers that she had pictures and letters. My question is why didn't she remember before and showed Miguel? Why is it that she waits till the end to show him? Lee Unkrich was successful threw the whole movie even if there was certain plot holes.
His point of this movie was to persuade people to keep following their dream everything is possible. I really recommend people to watch this movie, it is good to watch as a family together.
