Review of Coco (2017) by Emylove — 08 Dec 2017
I love animation movies a lot, but I can say that "Coco" is a Masterpiece with a capital M. It immediately became my favorite Pixar movie, and not only that. It's impressive how it treats topics like life, death, life after death, love, the power of love and music, love beyond death, family, fortitude, selfishness, altruism, freedom, passions, pain, mistakes, forgiveness, disease, memory, respect, the passing time, destiny, revival, comprehension in its total, compassion, loss, defeat, redraft, revenge, wickedness, greed, murder, cheating, deception, pride, falsehood, disability, sacrifice, dreams, desires, wishes, hopes, success, to know how to look beyond appearances, joy, happiness, friendship, music, etc! All these important themes (and to which I'm particularly attached) are treated with a stunning depth, emotionality and empathy (which I love to see in a movie, being a very sensitive, emotional and profound person), it's a really sweet and moving movie.
.. it's full of touching moments (I don't know how much I cried, really, especially towards the end, but not only), but also funny, It's dark (and I love it's so dark), has wonderful morals, has wonderful characters, a fantastic music, crazy graphics, the colors are explosive and more, is truly faithful to the Mexican culture of the Day of the Dead.
.. this movie has everything a movie should have! It immediately became my favorite movie of all time (and I'm passionate about animated movies and filmmaking in general), and I've never had a favorite movie ever, but many were on par.
.. "Coco" has just overwhelmed me, he entered in my soul and I feel it will always be my heart movie... I hope he win more than an Oscar, because for me it deserves everything and more!!! I really recommend it to everyone, of whatever culture you are, to young and old, because this movie brings universal messages with it! Thanks so much Pixar for this wonderful gift you made us, and that you made me!!! Thank you for giving me strong emotions! I only say that "Coco" is a movie that struck me in the heart and soul and now I'm a little more serene with myself thanks to this movie.
