Review of Coco (2017) by Davide % — 24 Nov 2017
As an adult viewer, we've always loved Pixar films even when we aren't sure they are as appropriate for our younger grandchildren as some might hope. Coco is one of those films that works for adults and kids of 5+. it is a BEAUTIFUL film and story, recognizing the importance of family, ancestry and music with an interesting story that will keep viewers focus the entire show. Our six year old asked about our parents - so the message of remembering ancestors clearly got through. And equally interesting, our adult children (grandson's parents) also asked about their great grandparents - as subject we hadn't discussed in a very long time.
One concern - the holiday version is paired with a very cute short film Olaf's Holiday Adventure, which brings back the "Frozen" characters in a very nice musical short. HOWEVER, this extends the length of the Coco experience to over two hours, which is simply toooo long for younger children. We almost lost our six year old's attention at the end of Coco, which would have been too bad given its story-ending message.
