Review of Coco (2017) by Sophia P — 26 Nov 2017
When Pixar realises a movie, we all know it's gonna be good. So we had expectations with Coco, and, yet, I think it's fair to say it surprised us because it felt different from anything Pixar has ever done.
It got in a darker, deeper world, dealing with death, with being entirely forgotten by everyone, or with killing people to step over them, amongst others. But, the even more amazing thing is that it managed to make it quite as light and cheerful as always, so when I saw it, while the younger kids would be enjoying Miguel's journey and the clumsy dog Dante, the grown ups and the older kids were all sobbing by the end.
And it's happy crying, because the ending is incredibly beautiful.
