Review of Cocktail (2012) by Asif H — 17 Jul 2012
Not sure what to expect from this movie, I could tell it would be a very urban film. Was thinking it might be similar to one of Saif Ali Khan`s previous produced films such `Love Aaj Kal`. No, it is not, it is much better.
The film is a tale of two halves. Similar to the 1997 film `Ishq`. The first half was hilarious beyond belief. Saif Ali Khan`s comic timing is incredible and that is an understatement. Every time he come on the screen you were expecting a plethora of entertainment.
Deepika Padukone plays her character to the tee with perfection, just a naturally gifted actress. Newcomer, Diana Penty portrays a convincing role as the shy traditional conservative girl. Boman Irani and Dimple Kapadia in their short supprting roles was dynamite entertainment.
The second half was a little bit of a shocker to the system due to the sudden tone of being a very serious film. I think the change could have been more gradual, rather then being too sudden. Overall, a decent film.
However, I feel this film could have been much better though but a commendable effort.
