Review of Cockneys vs Zombies (2012) by Doraine G — 08 Feb 2014
Zombies are getting pretty played out, but this one halfway decent. It's the story of a gang of robbers fighting their way through a zombie-infested East End London to save their granddad. There not big name in the film except for Alan Ford as the Granddad and Honor Blackman, Pussy Galore herself, as another rest home resident fighting off the zombie hoards.
It doesn't bring anything new to the genre, but it's competently made and better than most of the zombie garbage out there. There's plenty of zombie action and it's reasonably funny. However, watching this film made me realize how played out zombie films are at this point and wonder if anyone is going to bring anything interesting to this end of the world scenario.
Maybe it's time for filmmaker to start revisiting the warriors-of-the-wasteland sub genre of end of the world scenarios, ala "Max Max" or "Cherry 2000.".
