Review of Cocalero (2007) by Steve G — 09 Oct 2007
As a film, this perhaps could use some work, but my understanding is that it's one of the director's first works. As a story, this film is absolutely amazing and breaks ground in terms of access to senior political figures.
We watch the electoral fabric of a developing, troubled nation play out before our eyes as the relatively idealist, determined now-president, then-candidate Evo Morales lets us into his world, even down to his raquetball game and ratty Bolivian futbol jersey.
Brilliant! Seen during the National Geographic "All Roads" film festival.
