Review of Cocaine Cowboys (2006) by Erik Rogelio G — 20 Feb 2007
Fast paced, visually arresting documentary that examines the rise of the cocaine importing business in the late 70s and early 80s and the impact it has on Miami. Told entirely through vivid first person interviews illustrated with cut-up anmated photographs Cocaine Cowboys manages to tell both positive and negative stories about the impact of the drugs trade while spinning a gritty and brutal tale of chainsaw murders, murderous Columbian ex-prostitues, and the delicate art of performing a "hit"by simply spraying a room full of automatic gunfire.
If Tarantino made crime documentary you can imagine him coming up with something like this.
