Review of Cocaine Cowboys (2006) by Ashlea S — 31 Aug 2009
'Cocaine Cowboys' documents the story of Miami during its surge of prominence, decadence, cocaine, corruption, and economical expansion during the 70s and 80s. While this was a time when the rest of the country was going through one of the worst recessions in American history, Miami was flourishing under a black market of cocaine industry.
This documentary never holds back and always retrospectively tells the good along with the heinously bad. From gun fights to mere ingenious drug running, you'll meet some of the runners, killers, reporters, and law enforcement that explain how Miami was the most violent upper-class city to live in.
It does such a great job selling that fact is indeed stranger than fiction with gut-wrenching stories and, even worse, crime scene photos and old new reports.
