Review of Cocaine Cowboys (2006) by Aaron B — 08 Sep 2010
"Miami was made by the Colombian cocaine which is something that the gringos do not accept." Fast-paced and kind of exciting. This documentary shows how Miami was made by drug money and how the drug business especially cocaine came to existance in Miami.
The clubs, the skyline, the toursim, the shops... everything was created because of the drug cartel. The director puts his narrative in the hands of three players from the era, a wheeler-dealer, a transporter, and an assassin for a cartel.
The stories involving Griselda Blanco, the Godmother of cocaine traffic in the USA, were amazing. Never before was there a more deadly or corrupt time and place in American history and this film does more than justice in showing it off.
The real stories that inspired Miami Vice and Scarface.
