Review of Cobra Verde (1987) by Willi W — 28 Jul 2007
Herzog's more traditional narratives are almost predictable in their grandeur. Cobra Verde is perhaps less focused and cohesive than his most memorable collaborations with actor Klaus Kinski, but these faults are ultimately dwarfed by what Herzog does so well.
The final moments of Cobra Verde seem to pick the story up all at once and reveal a truly haunting film rich with allegory and moments of minimalist beauty.
