Review of Cobra (1986) by Baurushan J — 27 May 2013
The story is about Marion Cobretti aka Cobra played by Sylvester Stallone who is a maverick cop and he tracks down a man who believes in the new order. The order is to destroy all the weak so that everyone will die strong.
Killing him in a supermarket, Cobra realises that there's not one, there's an army of serial killers from this league who are after Ingrid played by Brigitte Nielsen, a fashion model who Cobra is sent out to protect as the army fear that she will end their order.
Constantly being chased by the group of serial killers, both Cobra and Ingrid outrun them as he kills them all in order to find the central villain, Night Slasher played by the then-newcomer Brian Thompson who was also one of the punks in The Terminator before entering this movie.
This movie is a hardcore action movie and like Arnold Schwarzenegger looked the best in Commando, I think Sylvester Stallone looked the best in this movie, like a real action hero. Aside from these movies, they just look like actors dressed up as stars.
In Commando and Cobra, they were both the stars. Brigitte Nielsen and Sylvester Stallone made the perfect couple. The intro is just badass. Some of the music is just perfect creating a dark atmosphere for this movie.
The climatic battle later foreshadows the climatic fight in The Expendables 2. It's just fucking awesome. Based on the book "Fair Game", Cobra gets a weak 10/10.
