Review of Coal Miner's Daughter (1980) by Jeff B — 13 Jan 2008
Very good music biopic, better than a lot of the recent ones. Sissy Spacek was great in this film and Tommy Lee Jones was also perfect as the husband. I think I preferred the first half when Loretta was younger and when she was first starting to sing.
Though the second half was very good, I felt that at times it was starting to seem like a lot of the other films. However, I really enjoyed it, I'm glad I finally saw it. I still need to see some of the other Actress nominees of 80, but it's nice that she won, though I'm still not sure who I'd vote for.
