Review of Coal Miner's Daughter (1980) by Joe S — 15 Aug 2012
Sissy Spacek's Oscar-winning performance as Loretta Lynn carries this thoughtful and lively biopic. Even non-country music fans will find themselves cheering through this one. The story itself is one that wold be worth telling even if it was fictional, because it is in itself so heartbreaking and realistic.
Sissy Spacek, Tommy Lee Jones, et. al. give perfect examples of lived-in performances. There are moments that we really do forget that Sissy Spacek is there on the screen, not Loretta Lynn.
