Review of Coach Carter (2005) by Naghma R — 13 Dec 2009
This is an excellent movie! Perfectly portrays how most schools consider sports more important than grades. I loved his coaching attitude from the moment he started the job. He was tough on the kids and they didn't like it at first but they later realized it would be good for them.
It's pretty sad how much the parents were against his rules and ideas. He was only looking out for the kids and wanted to make sure they focused on grades first. Though it's true that some kids only have sports to keep them out of trouble and even alive.
But I really liked that coach went out of his way to do the right thing. Even the teachers and principal weren't doing their jobs. Made it seem like helping students do well was too hard and not a priority.
Really GREAT movie and very worth watching!
