Review of Coach Carter (2005) by Second G — 05 Sep 2018
Coach Carter is a Sport, drama and coming of age movie, it was directed by Thomas Carter in 2005. The movie was filmed in Richmonds school , where also the real story was. It was so exciting and surprising, I expect a movie where the plot was only about basketball, but it was also about the school life of the students, and the importance of the grades to enter in universities.
In movie the principal actors who starred in were Samuel L. Jackson like Coach Carter, Rob Brown like Kenyon stone, Channing Tatum like Jason Lye and Rick Gonzalez like Timo Cruz. The most important actor in the movie was Samuel L. Jackson, who wons Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture by the NAACP Image Awards. All the actors nowadays are in movies or in TV series. The most recognized actor is also Samuel L. Jackson who was in a lot of movies, like Django Unchained, The Avengers, Kingsman the secret service, and more. But he not only was in movies, he also won prizes, like IGN Award for Best Cameo in Iron man, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture in Django Unchained and in Mother and child.
The story is about a new basketball coach who enters to the public school of Richmond, where the big part of the students don't give importance to the studies, the coach after seeing this he decide to put conditions if someone wants to enter in the new team, the conditions include to improve their horribles grades. The coach enters not only to win championships, also to prepare the players to go university.
The story is amazing, it lets you see the importance of the studies, and how it would give you opportunities in the life, also is not a common plot in this days, it's a good change of scenery of what we are used to watch.
One thing I like a lot of the movie was the emotional effects, they were spectacular, because in the movie many things happen that made the characters cry or get angry, the actors interpreted them in an impressive way. Almost the soundtracks were awesome, they put them in the exactly moment, that gives you different emotions.
I give to this spectacular movie a 4 stars of 5, because the movie is so long so you could get bored in some parts, but the other things like the acting and the impressive qualities are amazing. I recommend the movie for people who like sport movies and also movies where the characters change in all the movie. You would like the movie because it teach you to effort to make your dreams happen and never give up.
Samuel L. Jackson does a great performance, he acts very well the serious roles. The background was very good. All the sports hall was good with the fans screaming. The poorest of Richmond, with dark colours. In the movie are a lot of characters than contributes something to the movie and other than being secondary. The most import is the coach and the players. In the players are one of them that the movie uses a lot, Timo Cruz. They do it right because the more importance characters have a history redibklike Kenyon Stone (Rob Brown), his girlfriend is pregnant and they don't know what to do. The secondary characters are also important like the mothers, the director of the school, the family.
In the school of Richmond only the fifty percent of the school graduate and the six percent of that students go to the university. Also the basketball team only won 3 games so they need help. Thomas Carter agrees to be the new coach of the basketball team. He is going to fix all this problem. In him more important than the basketball is the studies. There are a lot of problems additionally than the basketball games like their education or the danger of the streets. His first day as a coach, he gives them a contract that says they must give an average of 2,3 in their exams. Some of the best players don't accept and left the gym. The job of mister Carter is going to be difficult, but he is going to strive.
For me the soundtrack was very good with incredible songs like "Lets the drummers kick". Also with good scenes like the first one of the gym or the last one on the dressing rooms. The movie doesn't have a lot of special effects like for example Star Wars, but it has a lot of emotional effects. It's not going to make you cry, but it's made you meditate.
To finish the review I want to say that the movie "Coach Carter" is amazing. For me is a 10/10. People must watch this because this movie is going to change the way you see basketball and the life.
