Review of Clueless (1995) by Lissa E — 13 Dec 2012
This movie just covers everything from this time and place in American teenage cultural history. And god is it fun!! It's also very sharply written, acted with passion and great enthusiasm, and production designed to within an inch of this crew's life.
It looks good, it sounds good, it is good. Real good. The cast is a dream. This movie seemed to do more for Brittany Murphy's career than Alicia Silverstone who already had music video fame and a slew of trashy thrillers under her belt.
But this film still works as brilliantly as it did 13 years ago. It's still fun, smart, and uplifting. Even though it is about pretty, popular girls, it has a little bite, makes a statement, and entertains the viewer.
And you have to like Cher by the end of it. She really learns a lesson and the movie never panders to the viewer just looking for stars and bling. A remarkable artistic achievement.
