Review of Clue (1985) by Romel K — 13 Jul 2009
When I first heard that a movie called Clue had been made, based on the popular game, my first thought was,"WTF? How does a movie based on a board game hold up for an hour and a half to two hours?" Well the answer is simply this.
It didn't take itself too seriously. I was very glad of this, simply because turning a board game into a movie doesn't sound like a very strong premise. Almost like hearing when a studio makes a film based on a theme park ride.
Oh wait, they did that too, didn't they? But I digress. Back to my point. The movie "Clue" works. It's very funny and it has a great cast to give credibility to the movie. I also liked the look of the film.
It reminded me of the artwork for the board game. So if you're interested in a film that might surprise you, this is the one I would pick. Warning: The film does have three alternate endings, so you might be slightly confused.
But that's more of an observation, not a criticism.
