Review of Clue (1985) by Callan F — 08 Aug 2009
A classic comedy, that hits all the right notes! It had been a while since I watched this, so I just rented it and saw it again, and it was even better than I remembered. There are so many details and intrigues that it delights the mind as well as the funny bone.
Its black humor is consistently funny throughout the movie, but there's plenty of other goofy jokes and slapstick to entertain those who don't find death humor amusing. Tim Curry steals the show of course, with that wonderful british accent.
Christopher Lloyd, the other big name in this movie, is fairly toned down, but is occasionally funny as a pervert psychiatrist. While the mystery isn't incredible, the chaotic execution makes up for all of it.
I've always thought it was fitting they had three endings, but to be honest, when viewing it again, I found myself favoring the third one the most, I don't think the first two endings are very satisfying.
Which is why, I suppose, the third one is the last and real one. I definitely recommend watching this movie at a slumber party or simply with close friends on a free night, it makes for great entertainment!
