Review of Clue (1985) by Stephen F — 25 Mar 2011
I grew up on this movie; I loved it as a kid for its slapstick and love it today for its brilliant dialogue. Terrifically funny and endlessly watchable!
It is really quite amazing that a board game was able to be adapted into a film so well. Most elements from the board game are actually used to create a solid whodunit. The script is so full of great jokes it is impossible to get them all on the first viewing. The cast is so full of stars that no character is ancillary. Due to the nature of the film, it could be argued that the acting is over-the-top and does not use the full potential of the actors. This is simply wrong, all the actors are bringing their A-game. Shamefully underrated, Clue is a 5 star film in my book.
