Review of Clue (1985) by Ryan V — 31 May 2012
Considering that this movie is derived from a board game, it's astonishing that Clue is such a funny and rewatchable spoof of the murder-mystery genre. Tim Curry plays the butler of Mr. Body (Lee Ving), a disreputable blackmailer who throws a dinner party for all of his victims.
Mr. Body is murdered during the night's events, and the group has to figure out which one of them did the deed. Packed with sardonic dialogue, hilarious running gags, affably dark humor, and winning satire of McCarthyism, Clue is a comedic treat.
Curry is terrific, but he's well supported by a great cast that includes Madeline Kahn, Martin Mull, Lesley Ann Warren, Michael McKean, Christopher Lloyd, and Eileen Brennan.
