Review of Clue (1985) by Bill M — 15 Mar 2014
This black comedy, murder mystery thriller based on the board game is an all time favorite for me and many others who grew up with it in the vhs era. The cast is a fantastic line up of comedic talent, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull, Madeline Kahn, Eileen Brennan, Lesley Ann Warren and Michael Mckean as the roster of suspects right off the game, and of course Tim Curry stealing the whole show as Wadsworth the butler, especially his manic, brilliant "and thurthermore im going to show you how it was all done" scene.
It's hilarious, silly, witty, gag packed, endlessly quotable (Flames..on the side of my face!) and just a great, jolly good time, it's probably one of the most good natured black comedies about mass murder you ever see in fact, and everything from the set design of the big creepy house itself to the energetic, wonderful score is great.
One of the most purely enjoyable films ever.
